Final Day at the Beach

One thing for certain is that we were blessed to have great weather every day this week.  Just a few hours of rain in the middle of the week, but we still managed to have a great morning at the beach for the showers began to fall.

Today was no exception regarding the beauty of the day, and we were sure to make the absolute most of every minute. We'll be leaving early in the morning, and there will be no time to write a blog, so I'll give you some highlights of the day:

My morning coffee view:

Marty caught a flounder.

Finn dug a ditch.

A BIG one.  He even managed to hit water down there!  (He was VERY excited)

Parker had Ditch Envy....and Finn even let him slide way down to the bottom with him for a few minutes.

The big cousins entertained the littlest.

There was a lot of fun in the waves.

Along with some great boogie-boarding.

Lots of time playing in the sand

and even a Mickey Mouse sand creation, thanks to Finn and Aunt Amy.

Pool time fun

and an evening concert

which resulted in some festive dancing.

It was an absolutely gorgeous evening.

Complete with one magnificent sunset.

and a final photo with Gramma and PapPap G.

Gramma's in there...hidden by two cuties sitting in her lap.

It was a fabulous ending to a wonderful week.  Thanks for following along!

Early Morning Chaos

Early morning at the beach almost always involves some sort of breakfast baking delight where Gramma G spends time with her "littles" creating something wonderful in their eyes.  Yesterday morning featured our Oreo Cookie Donuts,  a request that I am happy to fulfill when we plan our baking list for the week.

And, as you can see...there was no lack of enthusiasm regarding making them.

Gramma brings her special donut pans

and everyone gets to do something involved in the process.

Although this guy might have had a few more opportunities to help out.

Of course, the donuts aren't ready until they are glazed.

and sprinkled with a few crushed oreos on top.

Perfect!

They might not be an adult favorite, but there certainly weren't any kids complaining!

After breakfast (which did involve more than just donuts, in case you wondered), we headed to the beach for yet another perfect weather day.  This trio went right to work constructing their beach head fort.

which was definitely the most elaborate so far.  Lots of tunnels and channels for the water to swirl through when the tide came in.

In the meantime, there was shell searching

with some success.

Leona found a large shell that she named "Shelly".  She decided to bury it somewhere near the tent, and put an X in the sand, marking her buried treasure.  Unfortunately, Leona didn't draw a map, marking the spot, so we never did manage to find Shelly when we searched for her.  Big surprise there.

We set up some row castles for entertainment, with PapPap G's assistance.

Little brother was happy to destroy them later in the day, once he spotted them so neatly in a row.
But in the meantime, he was entertained in the makeshift pool

and even got his toes in the ocean!

Finn decided to dig a hole under the canopy.....a deep one, as you can see here.

and there was some touch football going on for entertainment as well.

While baby brother took his much needed nap, these two relaxed under the umbrellas.

I don't think I've mentioned it, but the house where we are staying is called "Cabana Beach", and one of its perks is daily Cabana service, where four umbrellas and 8 chairs are set up each day, early in the morning, and taken down sometime after we leave the beach.  You really can't beat that for service!

Update on the puzzle:  Finn finished it before breakfast!

This one was quite fun to put together.

Evening featured one amusing Beach Hunk

who successfully sneaked in on iPad entertainment.

We ended the evening with a great game of Yogarr!!

It was grandkids along with Gramma and PapPap G.   Finn, #1 grandson, won in the end.  Although PapPap and Gramma held their own for most of the game.

And of course, it wouldn't be an ending without an amazing sunset.

It's our last day today and it looks amazing out there!  Time to head out and enjoy the day!
