Fall Family Fun

The past few years, we have set aside a weekend in October, where we fill a lake house on Deep Creek Lake with kids (who are really adults) and grandkids (who are still kids, thank goodness!), for special family time together.  And the experience never disappoints.

This year the weather was perfect without a drop of rain, and we certainly took advantage of that opportunity!  So, let me share some of the highlights:

Kayaking on the lake:

Pumpkins to decorate:

Pizza and snacks:

Crafts:

Breakfast baking, which was a cooperative venture:

only this guy was more interested in tasting

and it didn't take long for the delights to disappear!

There was relaxation instruction

and some fun cousin snuggles.

The evenings brought sunsets by a campfire

and glow sticks in the dark.

On Sunday, we ventured out to the park to enjoy some spectacular scenery:

And there were some entertaining antics along the way.

Our final evening was aglow with fun as the littles all settled in to enjoy a game together.

I don't think you could ask for much more fun!

Great memories to treasure.

Thanks, as always,  for following along!

Until next time...

Chasing Waterfalls

What a better way to enjoy a fabulous fall weekend than at a lake front property in Deep Creek, featuring a glorious view!

The morning mist didn't linger too long

and we were soon admiring this amazing vista!

We arrived on Thursday evening, and and entertainment ensued!

Gramma G made treats:

And they were a BIG hit!

And yesterday, we wasted no time getting those littles busy making Cheese Danish.

How's that for presentation?

And they were very tasty!  No surprise there!

We decided that Friday offered the perfect opportunity to avoid the crowds and take a hike in search of the Swallow Falls.

So, we jumped in the car and drove to the parking lot where the trail begins, and headed out to enjoy the day.

This was the first set of falls that we discovered.

The views along the way were just gorgeous.

Hiking along, we then came to the Swallow Falls

They were pretty impressive, but nearly as dynamic as as the Muddy Creek Falls.

Those were amazing! Well worth the hike to see them.

PapPap decided to forego the hike and head out on the lake for some fishing.

It turns out that he caught a huge bass, so he was pretty happy.
When we came back to the house, he did some kayak cruising

and some hot tub relaxing.....Ok, so it was actually tepid tub relaxing, but it was still fun!

The girls made some crafts

and, this little guy just made his own entertainment.

Now, how much fun is that?

Today's bound to be exciting as well.  We awoke to a brilliant morning, and I spotted three men in a boat, trolling near the shore, complete with lights to lead the way.  I mentioned that to Marty, and he immediately jumped out of bed, shouting, "They're after my fish!"

He was dressed and out the door in five minutes.  He must have some BIG plans!
Guess we'll just have to see what turns up.
