Puzzles

How do you feel about puzzles?   I have this love/hate relationship with them.  I'm certainly up for the challenge of putting one together, but once I get sucked into placing those tiny little pieces, I can't seem to walk away!

Every year we bring a couple down to the beach to "cooperatively" work on.  I let my granddaughter pick the puzzle of choice, and she and my grandson sat down and helped me to pick out the edge pieces, which really didn't take all that long.

Well.....if you consider a day or two a long time.

And, it did appear that someone had sorted through pieces in an attempt to help.  But this particular puzzle was a real doozy to put together, and despite my urging others to lend a hand, I found myself alone at the table, attempting to find pieces that fit when I should have been sleeping......or writing a blog.  but no worries, I never put the puzzle ahead of playing with little ones!

Finally, yesterday afternoon....I finished the puzzle!   There were no woo hoo celebrations here from anyone, so this is my pat on the back.

It sure looks pretty, doesn't it?

So much for that.  Onto other adventures of the day.

Snacks at the beach

Finn posing like a water fountain.  (Look closely and you can see the stream of water spurting up towards the sky).

Dolphins (look closely and you can see the fin)

Great boogey boarding

A giant duck....it seemed to be there primarily for a photo op

fishing  ( I do believe that there were two croakers a couple mullets in the fish count.)

Baby transport

Cards

Snuggles

Balloons

and some very entertaining selfies

And those adventures certainly are a win-win for me!

Thursday Highlights

Thought I'd just post some highlights of yesterday's fun:

Entertainment from twins who thought wearing their cousins' sunglasses was very cool

and with this one....upside down is always in fashion.

Cousins entertaining cousins

How fun is that?

Waves

Relaxation

A surprise!

Festive clothes

Some silliness

Gorgeous night sky photos taken from the house deck

And some cozying up to Pap Pap G  (the real thing!)

Another fun filled, action packed day at the beach!

Can't ask for much more than that.

Busy at the Beach!

Hope you haven't been waiting with baited breath for my gallivanting report.  Let's just say that it's been pretty busy here!  From early morning until late evening, there's barely a moment where some sort of entertainment isn't happening!

Marty gets out early to scout out the beach conditions (and to try his hand at some fishing but not much excitement happening in that department) and on Tuesday he informed us that the winds were a blowin' and we'd have to forgo the canopy.  But that didn't deter us from slathering on the sunscreen, donning coverups, and heading down to just watch the waves!

Luckily, I devised a clever way to keep my hat from blowing away.

Ok....so it's not the most fashionable look.....but it kept my hat on my head!

And here's what happens when I loan my camera to my husband.

He loves his selfies!

We actually managed to spend a good part of the day just sitting and watching the waves.

After being wind blown for several hours, we decided to call it a day and head to the house where the party was just starting.

After dinner, there was a dance party going on

And Maddie tried her hand at teaching PapPap G some basic dance moves

I think she might have actually made some progress!

Yesterday, the weather looked a bit ominous at first, but quite to our surprise, turned out to be the perfect day for enjoying the sand and the surf!

Once again, we started out with donuts......this time they were Oreo donuts with cream cheese frosting....kind of like eating cake for breakfast.

As you can well imagine....they were a BIG hit!

After the lip smacking and finger licking, we donned our beachwear and headed down to the ocean for the day.

It was a bit windy, but nothing like Tuesday.

The littles started in the sand

made their way to dipping their toes in the makeshift baby pool

and before we knew it....cousin Maddie was joining them.

and here you see the whole lot of them having fun!

Quite the entertainment for sure!

The surf was great for some boogy boarding

and we couldn't forget the building of the beach fort!

These two ended the afternoon just waiting for the waves to roll in

while I kept an eye on this guy who was raiding the food supplies of those unsuspecting victims who were out enjoying the water!  Let's just say that the people next to us came back to less food than they had packed!

We headed back to the house for some pool time and another delicious family dinner,  after which we decided to head to the sound to watch the sunset....or at least what we could see of it.

I'd say that was pretty much perfect.

Well, I'd say that I've certainly proven the point that we have been busy!    Wouldn't you?
