Busy at the Beach

Yesterday was certainly a busy day here!

We started the morning by making donuts!    Ok, so I'll admit,  these aren't your traditional donuts. No yeast.  No deep fryer.  But, the kids sure do have fun making them.  (And Gramma loves helping the through the process.)

So I set about putting them to work

And just what is that deliciousness, you might wonder?

Well, those are Oreo Cookie Donuts. And you can rest assured that they were a big hit!

The rest of the day could have been quite content just enjoying the smiles of this little scuba diver in the house.

But we headed to the beach, where PapPap G already had the beach tents up and ready for us to relax under.

The water was much colder, so there wasn't a whole lot of wave jumping, but that made it easier for surf fishing since the ocean wasn't brimming with people.

I gave up running to the shore to take photos and opted just to shoot from the convenience of my chair.  (Not that I couldn't have used the exercise after eating one of those donuts.)  But, hey, it's my vacation....right?

PapPap G had  a grand time reeling in the mullets, and certainly enjoyed showing this catch off to a couple of by standers.

And, Jim certainly caught his fair share as well, but he released most before I could get a shot.

I suppose the excitement dwindles when those fish keep jumping on the line.  (Just kidding) At one point, I heard my granddaughter comment that she thought that PapPap had caught the same fish twice.  Too funny.

Speaking of excitement, I was zooming in on this couple as they were pretty far out in the ocean

when that fin popped up in front of them.  Actually, there were several fins but my finger wasn't fast enough to get the photo.  No worries, they ended up coming onto shore several hours later. (The couple....not the fins.)

Uncle Jim kept the little ones busy building a fancy interior to the sand fort that he and the kids had built earlier.

They had a blast building.

And a lot of fun destroying it as well!

And they even enjoyed hanging out under the umbrella for awhile.

And, of course, there was time spent "fishing" under the tent.

as well as some crazy water shenanigans by these two.

Later in the evening, there were card games in the house

with lots of banana shirts included.

Amy and I took a walk down to the beach, where the skies offered a magnificent view

and we glimpsed the rising of the full moon.

How's that for a busy day?

Cuteness Overload!

We surely had another fun day at the beach!

These two made this impressive sand creation

complete with an ornamental inlay.

There was some beach racket ball

sand digging

and yogurt pops.  YUM!

And of course, some fun boogie boarding

Gotta get the perfect shot!

You know that they couldn't resist trying their hand at some fishing.

But today, the frozen rods didn't have much luck.  Although earlier in the day, PapPap G did catch a red drum which measured longer than his foot, and I hear the mullet were jumping out of the water for Jim.  But you'll just have to take their word for that.

In the meantime, blue fish seemed to be the catch of the day for these two:

They spent a major part of the afternoon dropping their fish in and out of that red bucket.
How much fun is that?

All this while baby brother relaxed in the shade.

Back at the house, there was some time splashing in the pool

and an evening filled with fun and smiles

Better watch out!  There's a whole lot of cuteness going on here!

And I can only imagine that it's going to get even better!

Fishy Fun!

Monday was our first day at the beach and it certainly didn't disappoint!  The weather was perfect, the ocean was calm and inviting, and apparently filled with baby fish eager to entertain.

I figured I'd get right to the fishing update first, since I know my Dad is anxiously waiting to read about angler adventures.  Sorry Dad....I don't have the details.  I do know that I watched several fish caught on sand fleas that they dug up from the sand, including one caught by this cutie.

No sooner was the lure tossed in the waves when a tiny fish grabbed onto the hook, and she reeled it in, but it jumped off the line and bounced off of her foot before finding its way back to the safety of the water!  How's that for some surprising entertainment!  She took it all in fun!

This little one also gave it a try.

She had equal success in short time, but once she caught the fish, she proceeded to drop the rod, but no worries....quick action saved the day.

It appears that the Disney Frozen fishing rods have great success. There was no way they were letting that get away!

Even PapPap G gave it a try.

But there was certainly more fishing for entertainment.

Lots of sand for digging.

as well as for covering big brother.

And, of course, waves for riding

How much fun is that?

In the meantime, this was my entertainment under the canopy.

Obviously, he found the entire experience quite relaxing.

But the entertainment wasn't limited to beach time.  Back at the house, we enjoyed a fun filled evening of fun.

But, really, with all of these cuties in tow.....how could we not?

Hoping for another great day today!
