Yesterday morning began with Amy and I heading into town for our annual Duck Donut treat.
The place was hopping, which wasn't too surprising, as this has always been a local favorite for people who visit the beach. You order in one room, then wait until your number is called telling you that your donuts are ready for pickup.
This year, we didn't have to wait very long at all. And the view while waiting is quite scenic.
We were number 97, so when our number was called, we headed inside and picked up our warm, freshly made donuts, ordered to our preference: Three chocolate iced, three vanilla iced, three peanut butter and three maple. I chose the maple, which is always one of my favorites, and it was delicious!
After breakfast....albeit a rather late one, we headed on down to the beach, where, despite the prediction of rain, we managed to get in quite a full afternoon of fun.
The girls immediately busied themselves with the sand.
They haven't yet warmed up to the idea of the ocean, though, so those buckets are strategically placed to entice them to get closer to the surf, as they kept asking for more water.
The strategy did work for one, as she eventually ran to the shore picked up a bucket, and then scurried back at a pace that looked as as if she was running for her life.
And she did let her daddy hold her near the water's edge while her cousin continued to entertain.
Obviously, this little one has no problem entertaining herself in the water.
Isn't she a cutie?
The fishing was, once again, fun for the fishermen, and, at one point, Marty even reeled in a double catch!
Our grandson has set up a numbers spreadsheet to keep a tally of the fish count. And, he decided that he wanted to make a documentary regarding Marty's fishing expertise, so he made up a list of questions to ask his PapPap.
When asked what he used for bait, I heard Marty reply that he uses Canadian earthworms purchased in Berks County, and an occasional sand flea that he digs up from the sand. That should appease any curiosity seekers regarding what is enticing those fish to bite.
Last night, a huge storm rolled in, complete with thunder and lightening. But we didn't notice that much, as we were busy enjoying a wild dance party.
Between that entertainment and this little cutie, there certainly wasn't any concern about the weather!
It looks like the weather might be clearing for today. Hopefully I'll have some exciting adventures to share tomorrow! In the meantime, I'm sure we won't be lacking in entertainment.
What fun! My youngest granddaughter didn't enjoy the ocean until she had just turned 5. It's pretty overwhelming to them. I love the dancing through the storm.
