Pretty as a Postcard

Here was our morning view

Pretty spectacular, for sure!

We are so lucky to have such marvelous weather to enhance the view.  And the temps are in the mid 50's.  Can't beat that!

We've been on the ship since we departed on Friday.  There are plenty of activities to entertain the crowds, but we enjoyed just relaxing and enjoying the views.   We did venture out from our cabin a few times yesterday and I was very excited to find a trick to stay away from the crowds.

We walk down a level, and pop out a side door near a restaurant and there is a walkway on the perimeter of the ship that skirts along various restaurants with open seating.  Only those venues aren't open during the daytime, so we pretty much had the walkway to ourselves as compared to the mass of people inside.

The room hallways have carpeting with little fishies:

They point to the front of the ship so that one knows which direction one is walking.   We know when we go back to our room to walk opposite of the fish.

Here's a map of the area where we were cruising when the following photo was taken.

Gives you some perspective of where we are.

Dinner was enjoyed among our friends and lasted nearly 2 hours!  And I must say....it was spectacular.
Marty's appetizer

Gruyere French Onion Soup (mine)

Skewered Shrimp (mine)

Filet Mignon (Marty's choice)

Marty's dessert (some type of cheesecake)

Seven Layer chocolate cake (mine)

Everything was fabulous!
And, I had Marcie take this photo because I'm pretty sure these are the largest wine glasses that I've ever seen! (No worries....they did not fill them to the top)

Today we head into Juneau and have a whale watching excursion booked with our friends.  It looks to be an absolutely spectacular day.  Bright sunshine and low 60's temperatures.  You just can't beat that!

In the meantime, here are a few photos taken this morning from our room.

Amazing, aren't they?

And, we actually saw some whales.  I'll admit that I just randomly point and shoot with my camera because it's difficult to see with the sun shining in my face, but I was lucky enough to capture some spouting

and even the back of a whale!

Pretty exciting!

I'm off for now, but, hopefully will have more whale photos to share later!

Until next time...
