If you've been keeping up with the posts, then you know that Marty was sure to make use of the dock on the Mississippi River that is owned by the B&B where we stayed. But I did't mention that while Marty was fishing, I was working on this.
It had caught my attention and I couldn't help but delve into it one morning. I ended up completing all of the faces and some other details, but it was all too obvious that there just weren't enough pieces to finish it. So, I just closed it up and went to bed last night.
This morning, I mentioned the dilemma to the B&B hostess, and she asked me if I had checked the drawers.
Drawers?
Sure enough, along the side of the puzzle board, there are little sliding drawers, and when I opened two of them, I spotted lots of puzzle pieces sorted in color schemes. No wonder I couldn't complete it!
Who knew? Well, I suppose now I do! Oh well...it will give the next guests something to do.
After breakfast, we packed up to begin our journey east. As mentioned, a cancelled flight in Chicago on the trip out resulted in a car rental that must be returned to Chicago unless we want to pay an extra $2000.00. That seemed an exorbitant price, so I had to make some last minute adjustments.
I'm one to plan ahead, so I was a bit uncomfortable heading out without a plan, but I had found a place that looked comfortable in Eagle, Wisconsin. There is a heritage museum nearby that looked interesting, so I figured we could look into that tomorrow and spend the day driving out to Eagle.
Marty had done a quick search this morning, and found a Cheese Factory along the way where we could stop and take a break.
So, a little over 2 hours in, we were at the Cady Cheese Store
We continued on our journey east, noting that traffic during the daylight hours is far difference than at night. But it wasn't too bad, and around 5:00 pm we were rolling into Eagle, Wisconsin, headed to our B&B.
I had booked the Railroad Room at this place but hadn't noticed anything that connected the B&B to a railroad. Well, it turns out that the proprietor is a railroad hobbyist, and when we walked to the guest entrance, there was a VERY large train display right there in the yard.
